Analysis of Fracture and Toughness of a Denture Base with Polyvinyl Fibers

Fracture resistance of polymer reinforced with short fibers consists a sum contributions from matrix and fiber fracture, de-bonding pull-out. The existing models for predicting dependence fracture toughness on structural variables were derived the commercially important volume fractions, i.e., vf≥0.1. In this contribution, modification model critical strain energy release rate, GIC, type, length aspect ratio, interfacial adhesion fraction has been attempted to allow predictions at low vf < 0.10. based modified compared experimental data lightly x-linked PMMA used manufacture base removable dentures toughened randomly oriented deformable fibers. composite was measured under impact loading simulate typical mode dentures. GIC composites containing Kevlar 29, S2-glass poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVOH) obtained using instrumented Charpy tests room temperature speed 1.0 m/s.
